Your 2026 Dutch tax return, worked out before you open Mijn Belastingdienst

For people living in the Netherlands with a job plus something extra: freelance work, a side business, letting your home for short stays, savings, or property abroad. Answer only the questions that apply to you. You get a verdict, an estimate split into the bills you will actually receive, and the screens of the online return with the usual mistakes marked.

You are looking at an example: Ana, salary €52,000, freelance profit €9,000, €80,000 in savings, a flat in Ireland.

    First, three questions

    These decide which questions you see next. Most people skip most of the tool.

    Did you live in the Netherlands for all of 2026?
    What did you have in 2026? Tick all that apply.
    Property abroad counts under the last one, even if you pay tax on its rent in that country.
    Anything unusual?
    A fiscal partner is your spouse or registered partner, or someone you live with who meets extra conditions, such as a notarial cohabitation contract or a child together. The Belastingdienst's test.
